Prayer Requests

I want to host a weekly prayer request list. So far, I’ve managed sort of bi-weekly, but my plan is that each Sunday I will create a new post here and on facebook  Please add your prayer request either here in the comments, or comment on the facebook post. I’m going to do my best to keep both locations updated with all requests.

You can see my daily “foster mom’s prayer” here.

Since it’s my blog, I’ll go first with specific requests:

  • Please pray that Lady Bug’s transition continues to go smoothly.
  • One of Squirm’s random relatives have actually come forward – please pray that situation is resolved quickly.
  • Please pray that the Lord’s will for Squish be revealed to us – ideally sooner rather than later.
  • Please pray for a fellow foster mama who’s babies were moved out of state today with less than 24-hours’ notice.
  • Finally, please lift up all foster parents – that we be given comfort and the ability to comfort as we answer our calling to minister to the least of these.
From Jay:
Please pray that we win our court case for our 22 month old. Our final trial date is Friday Sept 27th. We couldn’t imagine him not getting everything he needs.

From Elizabeth:
We have a review tomorrow. It just dawned on “Tex”‘s SW the other day to ask if we are an adoptive home. Really??? YES!!! I told his last SW, you would think that would be on the file when she took over?! Anyway, she seemed like that changes her outlook for his possible current plan to go to relatives out of state. A little hopeful for once in his case:)
Anyway, like I said, we have a review tomorrow and my agency CW is ready to put it on record in front of the SW and supervisor that we feel strongly about adopting “Tex”. So your positive thoughts and prayers welcome!! Thanks:)

Prayer Requests

I’ve decided to start hosting a weekly prayer request list. Each Sunday I will create a new post here and on facebook  Please add your prayer request either here in the comments, or comment on the facebook post. I’m going to do my best to keep both locations updated with all requests.

You can see my daily “foster mom’s prayer” here.

I’ll get us started with specific requests:

  • I ask you to pray that Lady Bug’s transition continue to go smoothly.
  • Please also pray that Squirm’s bio-dad would realize that dragging out the TPR process is not in Squirm’s best interest, and that random relatives do not decide to needlessly drag the process out any further.
  • Please pray that the Lord’s will for Squish be revealed to us – ideally sooner rather than later.
  • Please pray for my friend who has just learned that her foster daughter will be moving to family members in 3 weeks.
  • Finally, please pray for all foster parents – that we are all granted strength and compassion and wisdom to continue our quest to save even a single starfish.
From Debi on facebook:
  1. 1.My nephew Houston Mitchell was hit by a car Aug 20th. He has multiple fractures and a traumatic brain injury. He is coming out of his coma but still has lots of healing to do. Currently he is agitated much of the time and keeps pulling out his feeding tube.
  2. 2. Our 11 year old son passed away suddenly March 25 and our family is still devastated. He had accepted Jesus as his savior so we have that hope of Heaven but how do you get used to the sun not being in the sky?

FAFQs: Frequently Asked Fostering Questions – How can you do it?

Google “questions about foster parenting” and you’ll get lots of official pages from child welfare agencies, state governments and foster/adopt charities (and even a quiz about whether you’re ready to be a foster or adoptive parent), but I haven’t found any “FAQs” that answer the questions that people ask foster parents everyday.

So I’m starting my own!  (Yay!) And you’re going to help! (I hope)

FAFQs: Frequently Asked Fostering Questions

So we’ll start with a tricky one that SuperDad and I hear almost daily. It may seem simple, but it’s actually pretty complicated and every foster parent has a different long version. Here’s my short version:

QHow can you do it?

 A: How can I not?

AA
(Alternate Answer): If not me, who?

I Refuse
~ Josh Wilson

Sometimes I, I just want to close my eyes
And act like everyone’s alright, when I know they’re not

This world needs God, but it’s easier to stand and watch
I could say a prayer and just move on, like nothing’s wrong

But I refuse

(Chorus)
‘Cause I don’t want to live like I don’t care
I don’t want to say another empty prayer
Oh, I refuse
To sit around and wait for someone else
To do what God has called me to do myself
Oh, I could choose not to move
But I refuse

I can hear the least of these crying out so desperately
And I know we are the hands and feet of You, oh God

So, if You say move, it’s time for me to follow through
And do what I was made to do
Show them who You are

(Chorus)

To stand and watch the weary and lost cry out for help
I refuse to turn my back and try and act like all is well

I refuse to stay unchanged
To wait another day, to die to myself
I refuse to make one more excuse

(Chorus)

I refuse
I refuse
